Dave Desmelik Creating Awareness For Pediatric Illness Through Music

One of Brevard, North Carolina's favorite singer/songwriters, Dave Desmelik, will return to WNCW, this time with an Army of Love! Laura Blackley, Jane Kramer, Alexa Rose, Mike Guggino, & Mike Ashworth will join him to perform a collection of original songs created with the goal of raising awareness about pediatric illness. The event will be held at 7:30pm on January 3rd at The Grey Eagle in Asheville, NC.

Penrose-based Americana artist Dave Desmelik uses song to reflect on his oldest son Holmes’ intense health struggles with pediatric brain cancer, and extends an invitation to all to see his benefit concert on January 3rd at The Grey Eagle. Proceeds will go to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, Angel Flight Soars and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & Western North Carolina.

Wish kid Hope, battling an aggressive bone cancer, helps to raise money to grant the wishes of 155 children in her community. Thanks to the support of the Carolina Panthers, it was announced that $1,116,835 was raised. Hope’s wish was granted. 155 others would be having their wish come true!

Symmetry Financial Group hosts Make-A-Wish Fundraiser

On Thursday, Nov. 8, Symmetry Financial Group will wrap up its annual fundraising effort to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Western North Carolina, which is expected to raise $100,000 in support of local and regional families. The annual event, Symmetry Challenge, will be held at Camp Rockmont in Black Mountain and will include a 5k trail race and dodgeball tournament.
