Make A Wish Hikers Trek 24 Miles in One Day

Courtney Prothero had been waiting all week for this moment.

It was early morning, and the sun was just peeking over the mountainside to dab the world with color. She laced her hiking shoes and looked toward the peak of Crowders Mountain in Gaston County. She was training for the 2014 Trailblaze Challenge that will raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

ASU Fraternity Helps to Make Wishes Come True

A 14-year-old boy from East Bend is preparing to have the time of his life, thanks to the philanthropic efforts of a local fraternity.

Marshall Baker, who suffers from a neurodegenerative disorder and is recovering from a recent kidney transplant, will be setting sail soon for his Disney Cruise to the Bahamas, thanks to the Appalachian State University Chi Omegas.

Her mother, Wendi, called it a trip Brooke will never forget thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which granted the wish and sent the family to Dollywood on March 20.

Today Hamilton is in remission from Acute Lymphoplastic Leukemia and hopes that with your help, other people will not have to endure what he went through. Audrey is in remission as well. Matthew “Junior” will soon be on his way to Hollywood, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Eastern Randolph High School senior Sarah McGee.

A special “Hollywood” send-off for Lucas, complete with a limo ride and a red carpet entrance, was held at the N.C. Zoo Saturday afternoon.

The Wake Forest chapter of Chi Omega, working with the local Make-A-Wish organization, raised the funds to grant Ava’s wish to go to Disney World with her family.
