Sixteen-year-old Zephaniah Luck was recently granted his wish to receive art supplies to fulfill his wish to be a great artist. Zephan suffers from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and has recently finished treatment.
A polite but reserved teenager, Zephan was thoughtful about his wish. He has a deep love of drawing, painting and photography and decided he would like some professional grade tools and supplies to propel his art to the next level. He received a DSLR professional camera, a paint air gun, photo printer, and computer software to make his wish come true.
Zephan’s wish granting party was graciously hosted by UNC Greensboro. Zephan was able to display his artwork for his friends, family and members of the community at UNCG’s Gatewood Studio Art Center Gallery located at 527 Highland Avenue, Greensboro, NC. UNCG framed his art, provided food and entertainment for the event, and presented him with a certificate to attend future events and classes hosted by the college. Partnerships with organizations like UNCG, allow Make-A-Wish Central & Western North Carolina grant unique wishes like Zephan’s and involve members of the community.
A wish come true helps children feel stronger, more energetic, more willing and able to battle their life-threatening medical conditions. For many of them, it marks a turning point in their fight against their illnesses. For their doctors, nurses and other health professionals, the wish experience works in concert with medicine to make their patients feel better, emotionally and even physically.
