Eli’s wish to be a Charlotte Knight is coming true
Charlotte, NC – Twelve-year-old Eli has already overcome a life-time of challenges. He started life early as a preemie with complications living at the Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte for several months. He is currently battling Burkitt’s Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system. He has successfully completed two rounds of treatments, and is staying strong for the final two rounds.
Eli lives in Pineville, NC with his parents. The small-town community has stepped up to support his family. A blue cooler branded with “Shenise Strong” shows up at their house twice a week full of nutritious and pre-made meals for the busy family. The cooler rotates between members of their church, neighbors, co-workers and families of kids on Eli’s local baseball team. Now the Charlotte Knights are stepping up to grant Eli’s wish to be a Charlotte Knight player for the day.
On August 30, Eli’s wish will be coming true. Eli is going to sign a one-day contract with the Charlotte Knights. He will be given an official uniform with his favorite number on it, 37. Eli will have the opportunity to interact with the players and coach.
