Will is a kind-hearted and loving child who has gone through so much at a young age. Treatments for Burkitt's Tumors often include chemotherapy and painful spinal taps. Despite the hardships he has faced, he remains an upbeat and vivacious child. The drum set is going to allow Will to express himself and celebrate his remission in all new ways.
On Sunday May 18, Will will receive his drum set at a party being held at the Guitar Center in Matthews, NC. They have graciously stepped up and offered to host his party complete with a red carpet entrance. Other local community businesses want to help too. The local Zaxby's has kindly donated food, Action Plus Ideas had custom shirts made for the day, Johnson & Wales culinary students are making drum shaped cupcakes with chocolate-covered pretzels for "drum sticks" and the Panthers PurrCussion team is donating a used snare drum and a custom percussion jersey.
This wish party is truly a culmination of all of Will's favorite things and a celebration of his journey. The custom t-shirts being made reflect his love of airplanes and wanting to be a pilot, by being branded with his own band name, Will and the Pilots. He and his family have invited 30 of their closest friends and family members to celebrate along with them. His neighborhood even started a support campaign by creating "Where there's a Will H., there's a way" magnets and placing them on cars and buildings throughout the community.
