On May 3, 2014, Make-A-Wish Central and Western North Carolina will be hosting our first annual Kentucky Derby Classic starting at 4:30 p.m. The evening includes live music, dancing, beer & wine, southern cuisine, a horse-show, silent auction and a live stream of all the action at Churchill Downs. Most important, the Kentucky Derby Classic is an evening of charitable giving, raising funds to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions in our community.
We invite members of the Greensboro community to Share the Power of a Wish© and witness a live wish reveal. Eleven-year-old Eleanor will be informed live that her wish to go on a shopping spree in New York City will be coming true next month. She and her little brother Jack have been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a disease that has left both of them permanently wheel-chair bound. Jack was granted his wish to be the Associate Head Coach of the Carolina Panthers last summer. Now it’s Eleanor’s turn to be the star and visit all of her favorite stores during a fun-filled and relaxing time in New York City.
