What steps would you take to help grant a wish?
Hosting three walks in Asheville, Charlotte, and Winston-Salem, Make-A-Wish Central and Western North Carolina looks to raise enough funds to grant over 35 wishes for children in our community battling life-threatening medical conditions. The Winston-Salem Walk will be held on November 15, 2014 in Tanglewood Park and has already started out strong thanks to donations from Trusted Choice Insurance and Brenner Children’s Hospital.
This $15,000 contribution is part of Trusted Choice’s 2014 national commitment of more than $530,000 that helps local chapters throughout the country grant more wishes. Walk for Wishes is a signature Make-A-Wish program, bringing grassroots fund-raising support to local communities. The fall schedule in North Carolina kicks off in Wilmington on Sunday, October 12th, followed by Asheville (Saturday, November 1st), Charlotte (Saturday, November 8th), and Winston-Salem (Saturday, November 15th).
“Trusted Choice is honored to work with Make-A-Wish and our independent insurance agencies across the country to support wish granting,” said Robert Rusbuldt, CEO, IIABA. “Independent agents are there to advocate and instill confidence and hope in their clients and customers, and that’s what Make-A-Wish does for so many children. We are proud to support their mission to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.”
Brenner Children’s Hospital was ranked among the top children’s hospitals in the country for the second year in a row. “This is a reflection of our dedicated faculty and staff’s commitment to deliver an outstanding patient experience to every child and family we have the opportunity to care for,” said Marty B. Scott, M.D., vice president, Brenner Children’s Hospital. This list of hospitals is used as an aid to families so that they can find the best care for their children. The Brenner Children’s Hospital’s $12,000 donation will help to grant two upcoming wishes.
Registration and check-in opens at 4:30 p.m. The walk will start at 6:00 p.m. following a short awards ceremony. Fun, food and prizes will ensure each participant a great time. This event is more than a walk to raise money; it is a symbol of the path that wish children and their families have journeyed on – and a celebration of our chapter’s involvement in every wish experience. It is our mission to bring hope, strength and joy to each family we touch. You can join in on this amazing experience by supporting our 5th Annual 2014 Walk for Wishes at Tanglewood Park. A wish come true helps children feel stronger, more energetic, more willing and able to battle their life-threatening medical conditions. For many of them, it marks a turning point in their fight against their illnesses. For their doctors, nurses and other health professionals, the wish experience works in concert with medicine to make their patients feel better, emotionally and even physically.
