What steps would you take to help grant a wish?
Charlotte, NC - Hosting three walks in Asheville, Charlotte, and Winston-Salem, Make-A-Wish looks to raise enough funds to grant over 51 wishes for children in our community battling life-threatening medical conditions. The Charlotte Walk will be this November 8, 2014 in Romare Bearden Park and has already started out strong thanks to donations from Keith Hawthorne Hyundai of Gastonia, South Charlotte Hyundai, Keffer Hyundai, Modern Hyundai of Concord, and Bob Mayberry - The Carolinas Hyundai Dealer.
Registration and check-in opens at 8:00 a.m. The walk will start at 9:00 a.m. with an awards ceremony following. Fun, food and prizes will ensure each participant a great time. This event is more than a walk to raise money; it is a symbol of the path that wish children and their families have journeyed on – and a celebration of our chapter’s involvement in every wish experience. It is our mission to bring hope, strength and joy to each family we touch. You can join in on this amazing experience by supporting our 2014 Walk for Wishes in Charlotte.
The Charlotte Walk For Wishes also marks the beginning of the Believe Day campaign held in conjunction with Macy’s throughout the United States. Children of all ages are encouraged to write a letter to Santa and help us grant wishes. Bring your stamped letter to Macy’s, addressed to Santa at the North Pole, and drop it into the Macy’s Santa Mail Letterbox from November 8 until December 24. Or, create and send your letter online at macys.com/believe. For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish up to $1 million. Visit macys.com/believe to learn more.
A wish come true helps children feel stronger, more energetic, more willing and able to battle their life-threatening medical conditions. For many of them, it marks a turning point in their fight against their illnesses. For their doctors, nurses and other health professionals, the wish experience works in concert with medicine to make their patients feel better, emotionally and even physically.
