Ashlyn’s dream of being able to “swing high” anytime she wants is finally coming true. After being diagnosed with Wilm’s Tumor, a rare form of kidney cancer, in November 2013, three-year-old Ashlyn has been continuously enduring chemotherapy. With the exception of her illness, Ashlyn is just like many of the other little girls her age. She absolutely loves playing and reading with her siblings, anything outdoors, and all things involving the movie Frozen.
When wish granters arrived at Ashlyn’s home she let them know right away that, whatever her wish was, she wanted it to involve being outside and the ability to be with her family. Given this and her love of high swings, it did not take long for her to decide that she wanted a playhouse with a tire swing. Her parents also decided that is Ashlyn were to receive this wish, they would want the playset to be partially covered so that she could play on rainy days as well.
There will be a wish party on July 26 at Swannanoa Public Library Park at 11 a.m. to reveal Ashlyn’s new playset and celebrate her wish coming true. The party will continue the outdoors theme and will involve bubble painting, hula hooping, and many other fun activities for Ashlyn and her guests. A surprise special appearance from Elsa from the movie Frozen is also scheduled to occur.
