Registration and check-in opens at 4:30 p.m. The walk will start at 6:00 p.m. following a short awards ceremony. Fun, food and prizes will ensure each participant a great time. The walk route follows a magically lit path known as the Festival of Lights. The Tanglewood Walk route is a 5K, with a turn-around point in the middle for those that do not want to walk the whole distance.
This event is more than a walk to raise money; it is a symbol of the path that wish children and their families have journeyed on – and a celebration of our chapter’s involvement in every wish experience. It is our mission to bring hope, strength and joy to each family we touch. You can join in on this amazing experience by supporting our 6th Annual 2015 Walk for Wishes at Tanglewood Park.
A wish come true helps children feel stronger, more energetic, more willing and able to battle their life-threatening medical conditions. For many of them, it marks a turning point in their fight against their illnesses. For their doctors, nurses and other health professionals, the wish experience works in concert with medicine to make their patients feel better, emotionally and even physically. The Walk for Wishes is a great place to learn more about the organization, and even meet local wish kids and their families.
Media is encouraged to attend. For more information, please contact Michelle Place at (704) 339-0334, x226, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Make-A-Wish® Central and Western North Carolina grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
