Right before Dolores turned ten, her life was completely changed. She was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a cancer affecting the blood. Like many girls her age she has a strong passion for beauty and fashion. She wanted a complete room makeover for her wish. She wanted a new room that would be a reflection of her happy, girly girl personality. Her room received a completely fabulous makeover, which included all of her favorite things!
In January of 2014, she was able to have her room painted a beautiful bright purple and yellow, with a theme of butterflies and flowers. She was given all new furniture, including a closet unit, dresser and a new bed with a canopy over her headboard. Dolores’ room featured her very own beauty station with mirrors and lights where she is able to do her nails, hair and make-up. Receiving this wish gave Dolores the ability to have a place that she can go to escape her condition and just be a little girl. Her room doesn’t remind her of her condition or hectic lifestyle, it reminds her that no matter what, she has a space to go get away from everything and be the beautiful girl that she is.
