Jessica Wall of East Bend will be completing a nearly 30-mile hike as part of a unique fundraiser for Make-A-Wish called the Trailblaze Challenge. “I like trying new things and pushing myself, and when I learned that I could do that and give back to my community, I was totally hooked,” Wall said.

Buncombe County Sheriff’s Deputies are not allowed to have beards, but for the month of February Deputies can donate $40 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in return for a no-shave waiver that allows them to have neatly groomed facial hair. The no-shave waivers are part of a larger effort to raise $12,000 in sponsorships ahead of a June 1 Trailblaze Challenge.

Children battling life-threatening illnesses have a new place in Charlotte to go to have their wishes granted thanks to the Grand Opening of Make-A-Wish Central & Western North Carolina's The Wishing Place, located on Tremont Avenue. And, former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. helped to cut the ribbon to the new wish room, named after him.
