Hundreds of people braved chilly temperatures this morning in uptown Charlotte to help make sick children's wishes come true. The annual "Walk for Wishes" brings children receiving those wishes together with their supporters to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation.

Andrew Roby and Harris Teeter hosted Pitchin’ for Wishes in support of Make-A-Wish® Central & Western North Carolina. 144 teams competed in the corn hole tournament for a first-place prize of $1,000 and a second-place prize of $500. The event raised over $200,000 for Make-A-Wish.

Keela Johnson, publisher of Forsyth Woman and W.I.S.H. Society member took a huge challenge to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She hosted a silent auction and fundraiser that included all kinds of food and desserts from local restaurants.

Eli Shenise was six days aways from getting his wish granted. On August 31st, Eli finally celebrated his triumph over cancer at the Charlotte Knights Ballpark.

Zaxby’s is proud to once again support Make-A-Wish by helping grant the wishes of 55 kids with life threatening illnesses. One of these kids is Isaac Simmons. His wish is to be a coast guard rescue pilot.

This weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway NASCAR's, Kyle Larson, will host a Make-A-Wish Foundation opportunity. He'll work with the organization, which helps chronically or terminally ill children, to give the lucky child (in this case a teenager named Christian) a wonderful day at the race track, free of worry and full of smiles.

Dottie Rollins is well known in the Make-A-Wish realm as a good fairy. Rollins, who has been a part of Make-A-Wish for years, was recently nominated for the 2014 W.I.S.H. (Women Inspiring Strength & Hope) Society, which celebrates local women for their career success, significant contributions to the community and/or their personal commitment to philanthropy.
